  Anna Pires is from the beautiful city of Toronto. She worked at IH Braga for 25 years, as a teacher and Assistant Director of Studies. She is currently a coursebook writer for Porto Editora, having published and edited various coursebooks, self-study books and digital content for young learners and teens in Portugal. She is also working with the African market and East Timor as a coursebook writer, editor and teacher trainer. Anna is co-coordinator of the APPI Mindful EFL SIG.

  Anabel Reis Alves’ extensive experience has taught her that student engagement and hands-on activities are key in language acquisition and inclusion. With an MA in Applied Linguistics, the DoS of Centro Britânico do Alto Minho, and a co-author of a coursebook, she is involved in material writing and teacher training both in Portugal, Spain and Mexico. Her main interests include technology, CLIL, and PBL, to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, authentic communication, creativity along with other 21st century skills.

  Ana has been teaching for longer than she cares to admit, but she still gets a kick learning from her colleagues and students. This extensive experience also lets her work across the ages, from Pre-school to university. She is a trainer and school owner, as well. She is part of a collective, You First Education, a practice-informed group of educationalists, and collaborates with Macmillan Education.

  Originally from South Africa, Fran Seftel is an EFL / CLIL teacher at International House Braga, with many years of teaching experience at all levels. Her special interest is teaching young learners through a more holistic approach, integrating English in a range of interconnected areas like science, maths, art, music, drama, PE and play routines. She has recently coordinated three Erasmus+ projects in collaboration with other European countries, two of which have focused on learning English through stories and free play, and one that has explored English through STEAM projects.

  Filipa Daniela Duarte has a degree in LLM Portuguese/English (FLUP) and a MA in Educational Science (FPCEUP). Filipa has been teaching YLs, teens and adults for more than a decade and has produced coursebook materials as well. She is particularly interested in storytelling, teacher training, methodology and materials development.

  Jenny has worked in Portugal as a teacher since1986, spent 18 years as a Director of Studies for International House in Aveiro, Santa Clara and Coimbra, co-wrote a coursebook for Porto Editora and is now the proud co-owner of Lingua Upgrade language school in Aveiro.
  
  She is passionate about teaching and has taught young learners from 3 years old, prepared hundreds of students for Cambridge exams and written language courses for companies and individuals. The variety, challenge and joy of interacting with so many different students are the things she loves most about her job.
  
  In her free-time she is a volunteer teacher trainer for a charity in Sri Lanka, an avid traveller and a would-be gardener.

  Rómulo Neves, or Rom tends to be a man that cannot sit still for long... That's why he works as a teacher of English and Special Educational Needs and also as a guest lecturer at the University. Based in Madeira Island, he is passionate about Education, and he is so optimistic that he still believes he can change the world! He is the APPI Madeira Regional Coordinator.

Currently teaching at Politécnico do Porto, she's pursuing a Doctoral Program in Language Sciences.

Postgraduate in Educational Computer Science and a Master in Educational Science, Susana Oliveira likes to explore the use and impact of technological tools and resources in language learning and teaching.
