Jesper Andersen was born in Denmark on the 2nd of April 1980. He has since lived, worked and studied in Denmark, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Italy. He currently lives and works in Porto, Portugal.
"I see art as a means of showing others how I see reality, this is done through symbolism. The paintings are symbols of concepts and ideas, concepts ranging from science to philosophy. Ideas are, by definition, inaccurate or incomplete because they do not put down rules, rather they put forth suggesstions and possibilities. Because of this fact ideas can be very hard to explain to others, baisically the power of explanation depends on the power of the words used to describe the idea and the recievers understanding of these words. Therefore to transmit an idea without predjudice is to transmit an idea without words, symbolically, in the form of art. This is why I do not give a title to every individual painting, but rather to a series of paintings, the paintings themselves should not be limited in any way. Rather than tell someone how I see reality I want to put forth an idea, and the viewer will make up their own mind taking into account their view of reality and their beliefs. Hopefully this should make the idea much more relevant to them. As it is a reflection of their own views in a new mirror, so to speak."
