English for Young Learners and Teens

There is a division within the Young Learner's level. There are true young learners and then, there are teenagers. How does teaching teenagers differ from young learners? Once young learners become teenagers, we begin to focus our teaching on oral and written skills. We challenge and assist teenagers to become more creative in their written texts by introducing more eloquent and/or functional vocabulary. As well, we begin to introduce more colloquial language into the classroom in order to help them begin to use this vocabulary and sound more native-like. All of this is done to begin pre-preparing for up-and-coming Cambridge exams which will be in the students' future.

Teaching teenagers is a very challenging job. Teenagers usually need a lot of motivating and can tend to be slightly less responsible with their homework. However, with the right balance of work and fun in the classroom, teaching teenagers can be an exceptionally rewarding experience for both the students and teacher!
